Food Bank Distribution

Master Food Preservers provide food safety and preservation resources to the community at food bank distribution sites throughout the Central Coast.  

They speak with families to educate on how to prepare produce, extend shelf life, and reduce food waste for foods received at the food bank and increase knowledge and awareness of food safety.

4-H Food Preservation Projects

The California 4-H Youth Development Program and the UC Master Food Preservers of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties have collaborated to create the Beginning Food Preservation Project and the Junior Master Food Preserver Project (Advanced Food Preservation).  The beginning project invites youth and adult volunteers to engage in interactive and informal learning t discover the science and art of safe food preservation.The advanced project requires County Director and 4-H Youth Development and Master Food Preserver Advisor approval as well as participation of Certified UC Master Food Preservers.
