The CalFresh Healthy Living, UC Program provides comprehensive nutrition education services with participating school partners and teacher extenders. To qualify for our program, school must have a high rate of low-income students attending the school.

UC Nutrition Educators visit participating classrooms throughout the school year to expose students to new ways of preparing fruits and vegetables. UC staff show students and teachers how to prepare food safely in a classroom setting and teach fundamental cooking skills and recipes that can be prepared at home with little space or equipment. Students are encouraged to try new foods in a supportive and positive environment, and they carry the message home to their families through parent letters and recipes provided by UC Nutrition Educators!
