About San Luis Obispo County
Dedicated to service people, University of California Cooperative Extension strives to make life better for Californians in all walks of life in this fast-growing, ethnically diverse state. County-based farm, marine, nutrition and youth advisors work with Extension Specialists and campus-based faculty to bring the University's research-based information to local people. Cooperative Extension is supported by federal, state, county and private resources to provide applied research and educational outreach to help people solve local problems. Extension provides workshops, field days, conferences and newsletters to extend information and bring about change. Trained volunteers extend Extension's reach, assisting with 4-H youth development, food safety and food preservation, backyard gardening and oak conservation projects.
